Conquering Dunn's River Falls
After Coyoba Gardens, we headed back to the coast to visit the most popular attraction in Ocho Rios: Dunn's River Falls. Dunn's River flows down from the mountains to the coast, and creates a series of waterfalls on its way. Here's a picture of the beach as we walked down to the base of the falls.
I think this is the first beach on the cruise that I actually got to walk around on without my shoes on, and you can tell it's not really that great of a beach.

The falls come right down to the beach. They cut into the terrain at such an angle as to allow you to climb up them a pretty good ways. The water is kind of chilly, and the climb really isn't that easy, but after all the lazy excursions I had been on, I couldn't wait to do something adventurous!
Here's the deal. The tour guides supposedly had the best path up the falls picked out for us. So they wanted everyone to hold hands and form a chain going up the falls so that no one would fall. That was stupid! Like I'm going to let some moron who can't keep their balance drag me down with them! Plus, the guides wanted to hold all of our cameras for us as we went up. A nice gesture... Or a ploy to force us to pay them to give us our cameras back??? I don't know, because I kept my camera, dammit! I had pictures to take! True, there were a couple times when I almost fell and nearly dunked my camera in the water, but overall my agility on those slick rocks was pretty good.
Just having fun in the falls. It was pretty cool having the waterfalls rush over you. I just had to keep making sure my shorts weren't being pulled down...
Another pic of the trek up the falls.
These people were also from the singles group. Michelle and... maybe his name was David, I don't really know. I only made the effort to remember the women's names!

After we conquered Dunn's Falls, it was time to get back to the ship. We were scheduled to depart Jamaica around late afternoon. Not a whole lot of time spent there. But we had one more day at sea as we made our way back to Miami. Here's a look at the ship pulling away from Ocho Rios.
